The End

In August, I never thought I would get to this point. And now I have, I'm a bit sad. 9 months of scrutinising patterns, knitting, tinking (taking back to the more traditional knitters), counting, ripping out in some cases and starting again it's all finished.

So the big question...

...what now?

Getting there...

We now have bunting on top and left side of the blanket!

It's not easy sewing them on! Sewing is NOT my strong point! But I don't think I have made a complete hash of them...have I?

The fleece is not easy to work with. It has little give and the cotton has a lot of give! Matching it up and getting it even and straight has been a challenge,

I'm not too happy with the back - the stitches are a bit, well, random because I have had to put them on the front where the least conspicuous place in the pattern is. What I may do is when it's finished them stick some buttons onto the back to make it look like it's caught through the buttons when in actual fact it isn't. I can thread some cotton through to make it look like they are sewn. I don't know. I'll think about it.

I think I bought too much! aka doing a Sarah Softly (DP people will understand this but others may be a bit WTF?)

Self explanatory I think.

Really keen to get sewing with the finished bunting but don't really have time today. At least the left over fleece will make some good dog toys!

The Last Square...

A bit like the last train really - behold! The last square!

'Sand'.

The state that the needles are in after all those squares, although I think Chris possibly helped the bent one by sitting on it! The row counter has nearly worn down too.

The finished blanket squares.

I have one strip of bunting finished but I am waiting for the blue fleece to arrive before I sew it on. I have gone for 'sky blue' and hope it's in keeping with the colours on the blanket. I need to now start the other three strips of bunting. I am hoping the fleece with arrive on Tuesday and be thin enough to get my darning needle through.

Confession time

It's been a while since I last updated the blog. I have been knitting, but with a broken camera, my phone just couldn't do it justice.

On Saturday, we picked up our new camera. Very nice it is too, so I decided to update the blog.

This is where I am. I have two strips left to finish. I have 'Sand' to do on the penultimate strip when the cream cotton arrives.

I have 'Punch' to do on the final strip which I am about to start prepping now.

Some random squares:

I have started the bunting. Very simple but very effective.

I am currently researching fleece to back the blanket with as it will save weaving in all the loose ends which have been tied off and will make the blanket more durable.

Watch this space. It's nearly there...

...and another strip

Excuse the donkey hat. It's not mine...oh wait...

Fourth strip on. I have to do some actual knitting now (shock horror!) before I can put on the fifth. Three squares I believe to complete the strip.

All sewn up...

Well, the third strip anyway!

I've only got a square to do on the fourth now so when that's done I can sew that strip on. I keep getting excited that it's nearly finished, then remembering I still have miles of edging to do!

Long time no blog!

First of all, apologies for the lack of updates. Knitting has been happening, just a bit more slowly than normal. Also we have broken our camera so the second apology is for the appalling quality of the pictures taken with my phone.

So then, three strips down and four to go. More than half way through the fourth now. I've just bought some more yarn bobbins as the original 10 is not enough for the 13 colour deck chair intarsia!

All together - spot the naughty hound...

Top of the first three strips, all sewn together.

I am finding sewing the strips together very difficult to do neatly. The method on the book doesn't work for a blanket with multiple coloured squares so I am *cough* improvising *cough*. My method looks neater (IMO) than the suggested, although that's probably because I am not using the suggested method correctly!
